Guinness World Record - New Year's Eve 2025
Pegasus Illuminations launched 2,802,195 firework stars in one minute to set a new Guinness World Record, powered by COBRA.
×
On New Year's Eve 2025, Pegasus Illuminations and the Mandan Progress Organization presented "New Year, New Light - Remember Our Veterans 2026", a 20-minute pyromusical at Mandan High School in Mandan, North Dakota. The show kicked off North Dakota's official celebration of the United States' 250th anniversary and sold out all 900 parking spots at the venue.
During the show, Pegasus Illuminations set a new Guinness World Record for the most firework stars launched from Roman candles in one minute, certified at 2,802,195 stars - well above the 2.5 million target. The crew built 187 racks of 27 Cowboy Fireworks golden gatling candles, over 5,000 candles in total, each firing 555 shots. The display ran on 89 COBRA devices across 199 channels and 3,035 cues, using a combination of 18M, 36M, and 72M modules, the Control Panel Generation 2, and 18R2 remotes on firmware 6.1.
In behind-the-scenes interviews, Zach Gilbert (COBRA's Director of Customer Operations) walked through the setup alongside the Pegasus crew. The team credited COBRA's slat capability for letting them prep racks early and return the day of the show - critical with sub-zero temperatures and snow rolling in during the build. They highlighted the Control Panel Generation 2 for streamlining continuity checks and signal-strength monitoring across the large site, summing it up: "A show like this would not be possible without gear like COBRA. Every aspect of it is user-friendly."
Pegasus Illuminations is co-owned by Garrison Risner along with partners Ben and Heidi Marxen, and is based in Mott, North Dakota. The team has long relied on COBRA, having previously set the record for the twelve largest firework shells launched simultaneously in a display. The event raised funds for the Wounded Warrior Project, Western North Dakota Honor Flight, and the Mandan High School Marching Band's trip to represent North Dakota at the 2027 London New Year's Day Parade.

Hannover International Fireworks Competition 2025
Firemaster Productions earned second place at Hannover using COBRA. This was the first time COBRA was used at this competition.
×
The Hannover International Fireworks Competition is one of Europe's most prestigious showcases, held each summer in the historic Herrenhausen Gardens. The event brings together world-class teams to perform choreographed displays that are judged on creativity, precision, and technical execution.
In 2025, Team Canada, Firemaster Productions, secured second place with a wide-scale performance using COBRA. Spanning nearly 300 meters front to back, the display utilized 7 × 18M, 10 × 36M, and 17 × 72M modules across 80 channels, all on firmware 6.1. Control and timing ran through the Command Center over COBRA's mesh network to maintain RF coverage across the site. In total, the crew fired 1,317 cues, launching 957 shells, 763 one-shots, and 46 roman candles.
Speaking behind the scenes, Sean Morris (President) and Steven Gircys (Crew) of Firemaster Productions emphasized how the system's reliability and ease of use allowed them to focus on the artistry of the show. They noted how the Command Center simplified tracking across a large site and how the flexibility of slats and modules provided the versatility they needed for competition conditions.
COBRA's Director of Customer Operation, Zach Gilbert, was onsite to work with the crew throughout the event. After the performance, Sean Morris expressed his gratitude: "I just wanted to sincerely thank you for all your help from the first email to after the show was complete. The entire crew and myself truly appreciate it. The firing system fired flawlessly and your support was top shelf. We were very happy with the show…"

Professional-Grade Resilience
Our systems are built to thrive in challenging environments, ensuring seamless performance under any conditions. From signal strength to weather resilience, COBRA delivers unmatched reliability.
"We just shot COTA F1 again, 160,000 spectators, and thousands of employees/contractors, we had zero issues with COBRA. COTA deploys 12 LTE zones with 40-50 channels on each zone on their private radio network to keep their employees/crews in touch. On Sunday F1 race day you can hardly use a mobile phone for voice or text, but COBRA has worked flawlessly for us for years in multiple locations at COTA F1"
- Jeff Jordan, Circuit of The Americas
"We've just fired 41 shows over 10 days, and every single one fired perfectly with zero issues. Several shows were pyromusical displays over challenging terrain, yet everything went flawlessly. In 15 years, I've never had a bonfire season go so smoothly. COBRA 6.1 just runs awesome!"
- Colin, Rainbow Fireworks
"People are always looking for capabilities of COBRA. We just ran a show with 70 modules that were left out overnight in 20 degree weather the night before the show. They survived the morning dew with no issue. I turned keys to arm at 12 and eventually armed remote at 6:45 for a 7pm show. Fired the show with SMPTE off my laptop. All 36 and 72 modules had lipo batteries, all 18s had 9 volt. Over 2400 cues and fired flawlessly. I was concerned about the modules being in such low temperature for so long, but it was not an issue at all. Thanks COBRA."
- Matt Bowman, PyroStar Entertainment
